6 days ski safari in the Dolomites

Skiing in the Dolomites: 6-Day Ski Safari for Enthusiast Skiers

The 6-day version of the Ski Safari in the Dolomites is a solution particularly good for intermediate/expert skiers that are looking to ski the Dolomites with intensity. Why? In 6 days we can do an extended tour line that covers the most important ski areas with the most famous “black diamond ski slopes”!

We will search the ski areas with particular attention to discover (and enjoy) every salient aspect!

We will start skiing in the Dolomites on Monday. I suggest you (warmly) don’t choose dates on the weekends (particularly Sunday) because there are too many people on the ski slopes. The mix of tourist skiers + local skiers of the weekend is always critic, especially in high season.

This tour of 6 days covers the same line as the 7-day option that you can read in the main page of my Ski Safari in the Dolomites, but the 7-day option is better for slower skiers or families with kids.

General information about the Ski Safari in the Dolomites

Your arrival at Bolzano - The day before

ski trip base camp

Most people arrive at Bolzano by train, where there is a 15 minute walk to Villa Anita.

Here we will have an initial briefing in evening where we will check the equipment and talk through general organisation. This hotel will be your “base camp” and the friendly staff will store the rest of your extra luggage during the Ski Safari Dolomites tour days. Your experience of the atmospheric Dolomites begins a dinner at the traditional Hopfen Restaurant (homemade beer and bread…. not a bad start!).

DAY 1

From Bolzano to Sella Pass (5-6 hours of skiing)

Dolomites SKi Safari rifugios

Let’s hop on a short bus ride to Siusi/Seis – your gateway to the incredible Dolomiti Superski area. We’ll ski in the Dolomites, exploring the Siusi/Seis and Gardena Valley ski areas before reaching the majestic Sella Pass.

Tonight, relax at the fantastic Rifugio Monti Pallidi. It’s got all the cozy comforts you could ask for in a truly spectacular setting.

DAY 2

From Sella pass to Sottoguda/Alleghe (about 6 hours of skiing)

Dolomites SKi Safari rifugios

Get ready to cross the Pordoi Pass, venturing through the Arabba to the Marmolada glacier (the top target to ski in the Dolomites). We will dedicate particular attention to the great ski slope that descends from the top of the Marmolada to Malga Ciapela (1800m. of vertical step….)… a great experience! Maybe, if you like: off-piste….

After a full ski day, we will go to relax at the sauna of our characteristic Hotel La Montanara (with family management)

DAY 3

From Sottoguda to Falzarego Pass (about 6 hours of skiing).

In this day, we will ski in the most quiet Dolomites ski area: the Civetta. This three-valley district (comprensorium) of Alleghe, Pescul, Forno di Zoldo is less crowded because it’s a bit remote, located in the internal territory of the southern Dolomites.

Then we’ll arrive at the Falzarego Pass and spend our night at the excellent Rifugio Col Gallina. Its location is absolutely perfect!

DAY 4

Cortina (about 5-6 hours of skiing)

Skiing in the Dolomites: ski safari holiday

No need to worry about your luggage – you can leave it at Rifugio Col Gallina while we ski in the Dolomites and explore Cortina’s famous trio: Tofane, Faloria, and Cristallo.

We’ll wind down back at the amazing Rifugio Col Gallina for another wonderful evening.

DAY 5

Badia Valley – Fassa Valley (about 6 hours of skiing)

Dolomites SKi Safari rifugios

Let’s start the day with a breathtaking ride up the Lagazuoi cableway! A second important target for skiing in the Dolomites. Then, get ready to ski down the longest slope in the Dolomites, all the way into the Badia Valley. We’ll tackle the Sella Ronda’s southern side, followed by the Fassa Valley, Collac, and Bufaure ski areas.

End your fantastic day with a stay, and a much-deserved sauna session, at Rifugio Baita Cuz .

DAY 6

Buffaure – Ciampedie – Carezza (about 5 hours of skiing)

Skiing in the Dolomites: ski safari holiday

We’ll ski in the Dolomites around the mid-Fassa Valley (Pozza di Fassa), cross to the Ciampedie ski area, and reach Vigo di Fassa. Our ski safari adventure concludes with a final bus ride to the Costalunga/Karer Pass, exploring the Karer Pass ski area before arriving in Welschnofen/Nova Levante.

We’ll finish strong back to Bolzano and another night at the lovely Villa Anita.

Let’s make this trip unforgettable!
